This is my entry for the second "blending life" competition on the "blender artists" forum.
the brief was to do a realistic portrait using only the tools available in blender (although a 2d program and photos are allowed for texture creation and colour correction)
modelling, sculpting, texturing,(3d paint), particles, lighting, rendering. compositing were all done in blender over a two week period.
my personal challenge was to "bring it to life", to make a compelling whole that would shout out to the viewer.... (though the timescale to meet the deadline would prove tough as ever!)
the more technical aspects of making the perfect skin shader or micro details of every pore were not really on my radar... I much prefer the photography of albert watson which is black and white and often seems to make skin more metallic... with simple yet striking compositions...
as a result i hardly meet the judging criteria, so it'll be interesting to see how I fare in the competition!
